Manual Upload

Manual Upload registers a project from a folder or ZIP file on your computer without a Git integration.

Required role

Sign in as a Super Admin to register a new project with Manual Upload.

Open the upload screen

Open Upload Project from either path:

  • Integrations > Manual Upload > Connect
  • Projects > Overview > New Project > Manual

Upload methods

Method Behavior
Directory Applies file exclusions to the selected folder, creates a ZIP file, and uploads it.
Zip File Uploads an existing ZIP file as it is.

The Directory tab opens by default. Zip File accepts ZIP files up to 500MB. For Directory, the total uncompressed size of the files remaining after exclusions must not exceed 500MB.

Upload a directory

  1. Open Upload Project from Integrations > Manual Upload.
  2. Select the Directory tab.
  3. Select the Project Directory area and choose a folder. Supported browsers also let you drag and drop a folder.
  4. Check Project Name. It defaults to the top-level folder name and can be edited.
  5. If needed, select environment labels under Environment labels to distinguish the project.
  6. Operate the visibility switch to choose Public or Private.
  7. Check the selected filenames and total uncompressed size.
  8. Select Upload Project.
  9. Keep the page open until the browser finishes compressing and uploading the files.

The project name must contain 1–100 characters.

Even if the screen displays Private, leaving the switch untouched can save the project as Public. Always operate the visibility switch before uploading. To register a Private project, turn the switch on and then off again.

Files excluded from directories

Selecting a directory applies the exclusion rules in .gitignore. Files generated by development tools and sensitive configuration files are also excluded by default.

  • .git, .next, node_modules
  • dist, build, out, coverage
  • .idea, .vscode, __pycache__
  • .DS_Store, Thumbs.db
  • .env, .env.local, .env.development, .env.test, .env.production
  • *.log

You cannot upload a directory if every file is excluded. Before uploading, check that the necessary source and configuration files remain.

The default exclusions do not cover every sensitive file. Check for secret keys, certificates, and production data yourself.

Upload a ZIP file

  1. Select the Zip File tab.
  2. Enter Project Name.
  3. Select environment labels if needed.
  4. Operate the visibility switch to choose Public or Private.
  5. Drag a ZIP file containing the project source into Project File, or click the area to select it.
  6. Check that the file is no larger than 500MB.
  7. Select Upload Project.

Only ZIP files can be uploaded. Before uploading, check that the archive contains no unnecessary build output or sensitive files.

Scan immediately after upload

The Choose Scanner dialog opens when the project is created.

  • To scan now, select one or more scan types and select Scan.
  • To scan later, select Skip Scan.
  • You then move to Projects > Overview.

Closing the dialog leaves the project registered but does not take you to Projects. Selecting Scan or Skip Scan takes you there.

A scan-started message may appear even when you select Skip Scan, but no new job is created. Check existing scan status in the Scan column of Projects or in Jobs.

Update uploaded source

Replacing the uploaded ZIP file for a Manual Upload project requires Admin or Super Admin permissions.

  1. Select the project row in Projects > Overview.
  2. Select the Source tab in the project details dialog.
  3. Drag a new ZIP file into Update Project Source, or click the area to select it.
  4. Select Update Source.
  5. Check the source-update success message and whether a new scan job was created.

Update Project Source displays a 500MB limit. Even if you can select a file, check that it is no larger than 500MB before uploading.

Troubleshooting

Cannot select a ZIP file

  • Check that the extension is .zip.
  • Check that the file is no larger than 500MB.
  • Check that the browser has not blocked file-selection permissions.

No valid files after selecting a directory

  • Check that .gitignore and the default exclusions are not excluding every file.
  • Select the parent directory containing the source again.

Compression or upload fails

  • Reduce the number and size of files uploaded at once, then retry.
  • Check the network connection.
  • If needed, create a ZIP file on your computer and retry with Zip File.
